Welcome back! We have 10 concerts budgeted for the 2008 season. Nine are listed above with the Holiday Concert being the 10th on November 29th. We will again be playing in conjunction with the Highland Street Art Festival on Sunday, August 3rd.
Sandy Allen is the band manager and Rodney Washburn will again serve us as music director and librarian. Greg will be returning as the moving crew manager.
All rehearsals begin promptly at 7 PM in the Highland High School Band room. The room will open no later than 6:30. Arrive early to sign in at the door, warm-up and prepare for rehearsal. Announcements will be made promptly at 6:50. Rehearsals will end by 9:30 PM.
We use the school’s stands for rehearsal only. You must provide your own for the concert. Concerts start at 8 PM. Be seated no later than 7:45. Announcements will be made and attendance taken at 7:50.
In offering the limited number of regular positions considerations will be given to qualified local musicians and section requirements. To be considered for a full time position with the band you must play no less than 6 full concerts during the summer season. High school students seeking a position must be members of the school band and must be recommended by their director. The music is very challenging and we only have one rehearsal to prepare an average of 10 selections. Therefore sight reading, as well as musical ability, is a must. Attendance is required at the pre-season rehearsals for anyone seeking a full-time position with the band. After these two rehearsals you will receive a letter informing you of your full-time or substitute status.
Please indicate your interest in playing this season by completing the form below and returning it to me no later than May 13th. Please list any weeks you cannot attend on the available lines. You must be at the full rehearsal on Tuesday in order to play the concert on Friday. NO EXCEPTIONS! Notify Sandy in writing of any weeks you will be unable to attend so that there is ample time to secure a sub. (Greg and Rodney do not accept attendance notifications.)

Thanks for your interest in the Muny Band. See you on May 27th!
